Gerard Valls is a multidisciplinary artist born and based in Reus ( Catalonia, Spain). His practice encompasses artistic and radical jewelry, painting, and installation. His avant-garde jewelry is rooted in transgression, sarcasm and social criticism based on the observation of contemporary social attitudes. A defender of the beauty of imperfection, he uses industrial and recycled materials to break with the rules of traditional jewelry, finding value in the piece as an exclusive and unique art object rather than in the materials used. Valls creates large-volume pieces with aluminum, industrial screws, acrylic and spray paint, achieving a striking colorful, and pictorial aesthetic that provokes a direct connection with the various artistic disciplines in which he works.
He also explores the world of art fashion by hand-painting up-cycled vintage clothing, transforming garments into unique and exclusive fashion accessories, merging sustainability with unbounded creativity. His art has been exhibited in major cities including Barcelona, Madrid, Paris, Trani, Catania, New York and Miami, and has been featured in prestigious fairs and exhibitions such as Iberjoya Madrid, Contemporania Barcelona and MAD About jewelry – MAD Museum, New York.
